Wine Access Executive Editor Shelley Boettcher’s Book, Uncorked, Almost Sold Out

MEDIA RELEASE

January 27, 2011 – Wine Access executive editor Shelley Boettcher’s first book, Uncorked: The Definitive Guide to Alberta’s Best Wines under $25, has nearly sold out, less than three months after its initial release.

Published by Whitecap Books, there were 5,000 copies of Uncorked originally released this past November. This guide to buying the best bargain wines from around the world is complemented by pairing suggestions, wine trivia and Boettcher’s personal stories about the wineries and their wines.

“I am incredibly pleased,” said Boettcher of the sales to date. “I knew that perhaps there was a place in the market for the book, but I never expected the overwhelming support and good wishes from fellow wine lovers. As a writer, it’s a real thrill to know there are so many like-minded people in the province (of Alberta). Cheers to them!”

The idea for Uncorked was born in the fall of 2009. From January to April 2010 Boettcher tasted more than 1,000 international wines, before identifying 150 favourites from every major wine-producing region in the world.

Uncorked retails for $19.95, plus GST, and can be found at most major bookstores and wine stores in Calgary, including Cork Fine Wine, Liquor & Ale and The Cookbook Co. Cooks. In Edmonton, it can be found at DeVine Wines and Spirits, Aligra Wine & Spirits, and Greenwoods Bookshoppe. Uncorked is also available at all Chapters and Indigo locations, and online at amazon.ca and chapters.ca.
