Wine Access International Value Wine Awards Online Registration Now Open

January 25, 2011 – The Wine Access International Value Wine Awards (IVWA) is North America’s premier value wine competition. Held annually in Calgary, Alberta, the IVWA seeks to find the best value wines available to Canadians retailing for $25 CDN or less anywhere in the Canadian market.
Having grown in both size and global reputation since its inception in 2006, the 2010 IVWA featured more than 1,000 wines from 18 countries. Registration for the 2011 IVWA opened on January 21, 2011 and will close on May 25, 2011. Full results and tasting notes will appear in the October/November 2011 issue of Wine Access magazine.
The judging panel is comprised of some of Canada’s leading wine writers, journalists, sommeliers, buyers, and industry professionals. In addition, the competition seeks out new and emerging talent from across Canada to be a part of the panels. This gives the competition a truly national perspective of what’s current in the world of wine. There are 20 award categories based on variety or blend and 10 “Best by Country” awards, along with the Top 25 Killer Value and Top 15 Wines Under Screwcap awards.
“If I were running a winery, I would brag for an entire year that my wine had won an award at the IVWA,” says Wine Access editor Anthony Gismondi. “I would be confident that what I was producing was among the best in its class across the entire country.”
