With the recent amalgamation of several separate faculties under the banner of the Faculty of Arts, the University of Calgary felt a need to communicate the renewed focus and strength of the faculty.
The Challenge
The university approached RedPoint based on our reputation for success in custom publishing for the post-secondary sector. The objectives of the Annual Report included putting an equal spotlight on accomplishments throughout the Faculty of Arts. These accomplishments included books and academic articles published, as well as awards and other achievements. The desired end result was an increase in awareness of the faculty’s reputation and ability to deliver excellence in research and innovative teaching. The “wish list” for the publication included sophisticated and engaging content that avoided academic jargon. The design, photography and colour palette were to reflect the university’s new branding direction, which was under a strict embargo at the time, demanding the utmost discretion by our art direction and production team.
