Prelude Live

Prelude is the official print publication of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. It’s distributed to CPO patrons as a performance guide, an information source and a keepsake.

The Challenge

The CPO needed a partner that could handle the design, production and printing needs of a publication that would look and feel like more than just a performance program. The piece would need to be printed multiple times a year, and reflect both the sophistication and accessibility of the CPO brand while also offering value to advertisers.

The Solution

RedPoint’s design, ad trafficking and production departments merged their skills to produce Prelude, a showcase for the CPO’s programs, shows, performers and behind-the-scenes details. Prelude was designed to function as a supplement to the performance, a keepsake with lasting interest and value, and a marketing tool for the CPO, with opportunities and enticements for donors, volunteers and supporters.

The Results

The relationship between RedPoint and the CPO began in 2000, and has developed into a lasting and productive partnership. Today, Prelude is a saddle-stitched, 48- to 52-page publication placed in the hands of more than 50,000 CPO patrons each year. The publication’s inviting design and long-term connection to its audience have made it a sought-after venue for advertisers. RedPoint and the CPO have collaborated to evolve the publication over the years. Prelude has successfully become a more magazine-style publication with a greater focus on reaching its audience.
