The Challenge

Brookfield Residential Properties Inc. is a leading North American land developer and homebuilder. Livingston is Brookfield’s newest community in north Calgary. Named for pioneer Sam Livingston, the master-planned community will feature a mix of home styles and transportation corridors. Brookfield’s 10-year vision for Livingston is to create a vibrant place where residents can live, shop, work, learn and play at every stage of their lives.

In 2016 Brookfield Residential introduced a magazine to promote Livingston and celebrate Calgary’s north, entitled Live Up. The role of Live Up is to get Calgarians excited about the area, its lifestyle and coming amenities, proximity to the core, and the people who make Livingston home.

The Solution

A high-quality magazine is the most powerful and credible brand storytelling medium available. Beginning with issue two of Live Up, RedPoint’s strategy was to leverage our knowledge of the city of Calgary, its lifestyle and opportunities, and our network of talented freelancers, to share Brookfield’s vision and inspire readers to create a home in Livingston.

We completely restructured Live Up from the shape and size to the style of photography and editorial architecture. Live Up’s new format endears the Brookfield Residential Livingston brand to readers while presenting engaging, accessible information about the benefits of the community, the homes that will be built and the many amenities it will boast.

In addition to helpful service articles that promote the lifestyle of Livingston, we present timely and applicable stories focusing on news and developments in north Calgary, Q&As with community experts, profiles of Livingston homes and amenities and the unique stories behind their creation and resident testimonials.

The Results

Live Up was made available to a special VIP launch of Livingston in February 2017 as well as to the official ribbon-cutting for the phase one of development in March 2017. Copies have since been distributed to key target markets and sales centres. The magazine will be produced bi-annually and will be a key component of the marketing outreach for Brookfield as the Livingston community takes shape and residents take possession of their homes.
