Hockey Alberta was founded in 1907 as the governing body for the sport of hockey in the province. It oversees all aspects of amateur hockey, from the youngest players to adult leagues, and from player development to supporting coaches, referees and other officials.
Hockey Alberta had been producing an annual magazine, but officials didn’t feel it was reflective of where they wanted the organization’s brand to be. They were seeking a storytelling vehicle that would inspire, showcase the joy of hockey and put a spotlight on Alberta’s hockey achievements, while also informing readers about various hockey events and programs across the province and the country.
Hockey Alberta was ready to take its brand to the next level with a high-quality custom magazine to tell its story to a broad audience of hockey parents, volunteers, officials, supporters and players. RedPoint’s team worked closely with Hockey Alberta to understand the brand and its goals, creating a magazine that focuses on the grassroots and takes inspiration from the highest levels of hockey. Content ranged from the cover photo shoot with three Atom-age players to a feature interview with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes head coach Bill Peters. The magazine’s design is informative and functional while being modern and visually engaging, with useful infographics and bright, colourful photography.
